Diamond Hill  in the Connemara National Park with views over the twelve Bens, Kylemore Abbey and most of Connemara
The Diamond Hill trail in the Connemara National Park, aprox  7km with 500m of total ascent. With blanket bog, extensive heather coverage, there are stunning views of the Twelve Bens mountain range to the North and East, the Tully Mountain to the West and Mweelrea to the North. Kylemore Abbey and Lough can also be seen below the hill.

Kylemore is home to a community of nuns of the Benedictine Order who came here in 1920 after their abbey in Ypres, Belgium was destroyed in World War I. Settling at Kylemore, the Benedictine Community opened a world renowned boarding school for girls and began restoring the Abbey, Gothic Church and Victorian Walled Garden to their former glory; now it is a major tourist attraction with thousands of people visiting every week.

The Diamond Hill trail starts and ends at the Visitor Centre in Connemara National Park and has a resturaunt for refreshments. This park covers some 2,957 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the Park’s mountains, namely Benbaun, Bencullagh, Benbrack and Muckanaght, are part of the famous Twelve Bens which . The trail going to and on Diamond hill itself  is well maintained with gravel foothpaths, boardwalks over bog lands, stone steps and a  short scree section at the top with a cairn that marks the 445 metre summit.
